Platinum Embroidery Presents ......
HINTS and TIPS

Wee Ones

What could be more fun than Babies?  They smell so very sweet, they make the most adorable sounds and I can't imagine anyone that can't find a use for baby things.  From shower gifts, to baby gifts, to treasures and more, there is something here for every need.

And when you head off to that baby shower, remember it's not just about the baby.  Take something just for the new mom as well to make HER feel special. This collection contains a bonus gift just for that exact thought. You'll get instructions for a  wonderful little heirloom bag to add hand creams and bath salts and more to just for MOM.

The designers at Platinum Embroidery work hard to get most all the jump stitches out of our designs so they are a pleasing experience for you.  But, we all know that sometimes they can't be avoided.  If there are several in a section of a design, like dots on a dress or such, try putting a piece of the plastic style washaway topping over the embroidery before you embroider that section and clipping will be a breeze.  If you leave the plastic washaway out for a few days it is more brittle as well, and will pull away from the design much easier.

Lost your favorite scissors?  Most of us have a curved manicure scissors in our bathrooms.  They work wonderful for clipping those little threads.  And who knows, they may become your favorite tool next to your embroidery machine.  I keep several hung from lanyards around the sewing room so they are within easy reach no matter what I am doing.

The next time you head off to the dollar store, pick up a package of those little make up brushes.  They are wonderful in your sewing room to clean out small areas.  Painters brushes also work well.  The dust and such stick to them making them easy to use to get into those hard to reach areas.

RECIPE

Rainy Day Hot Dogs
  • 4 Hot Dogs
  • 4 Hot Dog Buns
  • 4 slices of cheese
  • Bacon Slices cut in half - microwave on a paper towel to about half done.
  •
One of the neat tricks about this is that it seems to stretch a package of hot dogs to double the size.  Most people will find one of these is as filling as eating a whole, regular hot dog.  Preparation takes more time than just throwing the hotdogs into a pan of water, but worth the effort.

Preheat broiler as you prepare

Lay out bun halves, separated, on a foil lined cookie sheet.  If you like, lightly butter the buns.

Cut hotdogs in half, lengthwise, and put 1/2 on each bun section, with cut side down.

Break cheese slices in half, and set on top of hotdog.

Take semi-cooked pieces of bacon, and place on top of cheese piece.  I have used a wooden toothpick (NOT Plastic!) to hold things together, but be careful to remove the toothpick before kids start eating these!

Broil to the point where the bacon is done, the cheese is melting and a bit bubbly, and you are seeing a bit of toasting on the bun.  Enjoy!!
