This month's projects are done in a quilted style.  When choosing a stabilizer for projects like these you need to choose something that will work well with the fabrics and design.  If the design is light and airy you might want to choose a nice tearaway that will tear all away after stitching so it won't show through when you quilt around it.  If it is a more dense design you might need to use something like multiple layers of tearaway or tearaway washaway.  There are some wonderful battings that make your projects easier as well.  The fusible light weight battings keep your embroidery secure to the batting making quilting a breeze.  Check out these stabilizers at your favorite embroidery site.

Note the close up details of the quilting on the table runner.  The quilting stipple stitch around the design makes the design framed and seem to pop up and catch the eye.

It's that time of year when we need to think about organizing our sewing rooms for that end of the year push.  School clothing, Holiday sewing and more.  Place your projects ready to stitch in zip lock bags with all the parts and stabilizers and a note of where the designs are located so when you have a bit of time you can grab a bag and get started.  Then use the bag with a label on it to store the completed project ready to wrap or organize.  Stitching can be great fun when everything you need is at you finger tips.

We added a BONUS design last month for all of you to find and bring you luck on Friday the 13th.  IT IS STILL UP FOR A BIT LONGER.  IF you found this design and if you want us to continue to add these BONUS designs on the site PLEASE LET US KNOW.

SO....here is what you are looking for, and it is in an easy place to find.  So start your search and then take a second to let us know if you want us to continue these little fun design give a ways.

RECIPE

Jane's Tangy Sauerkraut
  • 1 Small Can Sauerkraut drained
  • 1 TBS Vegetable oil
  • 1 Small Onion Sliced Very Thin
  • 1 Small Apple Cored and Slice Thin
  • (Gala, Fuji or Golden Delicious)
  • 3 TBS Brown Sugar
  • 1/4 Ground Black Pepper
  • 1 Cup of water
  •
Place the sauerkraut in a sieve and rinse well.  Drain and set aside

Heat the oil in a saucepan and sauté the onion until soft and golden. Pare and slice the apple thinly. Mix together brown sugar and pepper.

Add sauerkraut to the onion.  Pour water over kraut and added remaining ingredients.  Stir to combine.  Cook over medium heat for about half an hour, until apple pieces are soft. Add water if necessary to keep kraut from burning.

Good served with pork chops or kielbasa.  Makes about six medium-sized portions.
