Keeping
your Heirlooms Looking Bright

Over time heirloom garments can take on a dull cast.
Brighten
them this way:
•
Use a plastic or glass bowl large enough to submerge the
garment(s).
•
Add tepid water so the bowl is about half full.
•
Mix in about a quarter cup of Biz until the particles are dissolved.
•
Submerge the garment(s).
•
Add more water if necessary.
•
Let soak for a day or more.
•
If garments are extremely soiled or discolored with brown marks, you
may need to change to a new solution after a few hours.
•
When you think the stains are gone, pour off the water and fill the
bowl with clean water.
•
Gently swish the garment and let soak an hour or more; repeat until the
water is free of residue from the Biz.
•
Remove the garments while supporting weight and gently mash the water
out of them over a sink.
•
Place the items on a terry towel (preferably white) and gently roll
them in the towel.
•
Smooth items out on a towel padded hard surface, like an ironing board.
•
Allow to dry, then press with an iron temperature suitable to the
fibers in the item. (Remember, nylon will melt at hot temperatures, but cotton
and linen can take higher heat.)
