Do you have a dark corner or otherwise plain area outside of your home that could use a touch of color or a little something extra to spruce it up? Why not add a beautiful planter of flowers using a chair as the prop. I took an old chair that was purchased for pennies at an auction and scraped off all of the loose paint and cleaned it up with some mineral spirits. Then a few good sprays of marine polyurethane to weather proof and the chair was ready for flowers. As you can see in the top picture, I removed the seat and added two wooden bars, secured into the chair with screws, to hold a typical plastic pot in place. Use a nice full basket of flowers so they can hang over the sides of the chair and hide the bottom of the pot. Now isn't the chair with flowers (bottom picture) beautiful and inviting! This idea could be used anywhere outside your home and it doesn't have to be up by the house either. Try a grouping of different chairs somewhere out in your yard to add some extra interest. Paint the chairs different colors or add some decorative painting to the chairs. Just remember to use a good dose of marine polyurethane to weather proof if you plan to use the chairs outside.
